Broken Tibia and Fibula

"I had broken my ankle in the previous year and had an operation at an NHS hospital which had successfully knitted the bones but had left me with limited mobility. You diagnosed that the metalwork which had been inserted to hold the bones together was causing at least part of the problem and operated to remove it. You then referred me for a course of physiotherapy. At age 72 I was not sure what mobility I would get back but I am now able to do everything that I did before the accident including taking my dog for long country walks. I thank you for your professional expertise and for the courtesy that you always extended me when we met."

Subtalar Arthritis

"I would like to thank you for fixing my ankle. I broke my ankle 19 years ago and had it pinned and plated. I developed arthritis and had it fused in Oxford in 2006. However I had persistent pain and you correctly diagnosed subtalar joint arthritis. You successfully fused it and I am now completely pain free and feel so much better. Thank you once again"

Chronic Achilles Tendon Rupture

"After much delay in diagnosis of the rupture of my Achilles tendon and having had to arrange a private MRI scan I sent the scan to Mr Malik and things started to happen quickly. I saw Mr Malik, who reviewed the options with me and explained what he would do in the operation, took me through the recovery process and what I would need to do. The operation has been a complete success. Mr Malik was available at all times when I was concerned about things and very responsive and anxious to be kept informed about progress. He is a charming man and concerned about the person as well as the injury that he is treating. I would recommend him wholeheartedly."

Plantar Fasciitis treated with Proximal Medial Gastrocnemius Release

"Dear Ahmad, You asked for a progress report around Christmas. Well I am thrilled, thank you SO much! I have been playing tennis for 1.5 hours each Tuesday in a rather competitive Men's doubles group at my Club. No ill effects at all. I have deliberately not played any more than once a week but am feeling ever more confident about my leg/foot and it seems very robust. In fact we pick players according to rank and I am in the seeded group. This is an indication I am able to play at somewhere near my original level already so you can understand how pleased I am. Of course I am now wishing I had had the operation before ;-)"

Ankle Fracture

"I fractured my ankle in two places and tore the deltoid ligament in a fall. Mr Malik was very kind and reassuring and did a lovely neat job on my ankle. I have a plate and six screws, but there is barely a scar or swelling of any kind (and I have very petite ankles!). I also had no pain after the operation (or since) and took simple painkillers for 2 days only. Mr Malik is dedicated to doing the best possible job, and getting people back to the sport they love. Mr Malik is very approachable, which I really liked, and I was invited to email him with any questions after the surgery and I got a prompt response whenever I did so. My physio said it is the best ankle of this type she has ever seen, both in terms of appearance and ROM. I was back playing netball after 6 months and at regional level at just seven months. I believe the normal return time to this ankle-heavy sport is a year, or never at all. I was incredibly lucky to come across Mr Malik, and things could not have gone better in my opinion."
